James Glenn

Mr. Glenn focuses on intellectual property and complex, technology-based litigation. As a licensed member of the Patent Bar with a background in solid state physics, Mr. Glenn has been combining his technical knowledge and intellectual property expertise to represent both plaintiffs and defendants for over 18 years. With experience in all aspects of intellectual property and related litigation, Mr. Glenn has worked on over 40 cases and in a wide array of technological areas including digital memory, microelectronic devices and manufacture, 3D camera and projector technologies, medical devices, computer networking, smartphone applications, computer software, and many others. As a resident of Texas, Mr. Glenn’s patent litigation experience began in the legendary patent hotbed of the Eastern District of Texas, and has grown to include nationwide litigation practice, with experience in New York, Delaware, Illinois, Alabama, Florida, and, of course, California (Northern, Central, and Southern Districts).

Mr. Glenn began his intellectual property practice with Fulbright & Jaworski (now Norton Rose Fulbright) as a patent prosecuting attorney and litigation associate. In 2008, he joined Morgan, Lewis & Bockius as a patent litigator, making partner in 2010. Mr. Glenn joined the international intellectual property boutique Novak Druce Connolly Bove + Quigg as a partner in 2014, before opening his own law firm in 2016. He joined the Dan Johnson Law Group in 2019.
Mr. Glenn’s litigation experience covers every stage of high-stakes intellectual property litigation from prefiling case evaluation through closing jury argument, as well as briefing and arguing all types of appeals to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and beyond. As a seasoned intellectual property attorney, he also brings to bear his nearly two-decade-long experience drafting patents, managing 400+ patent portfolios, crafting intellectual property licensing, negotiating joint development and manufacturing agreements, managing trademark portfolios, counseling on copyright issues, and maintaining trade secret protection.

Mr. Glenn grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and graduated from Clemson University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in solid state physics. He was a researcher at the Silicon Carbide Laboratory at the University of South Carolina before graduating from law school there in 2001.
